Frequently Asked Questions

Q. When did London Area Used Car Connection begin?
A. It began on Mar 31, 2010.

Q. Who owns London Area Used Car Connection?
A. London Area Used Car Connection (lucc.ca) is owned and operated by Dan Westlake, owner of BITS Of Knowledge.

Q. Why did you start London Area Used Car Connection?
A. I found there were a vast number of web sites advertising used cars all across the province or country. When looking for a used car I only wanted to look in London and the local area.

I was getting frustrated with duplicate ads on sites or finding vehicles that were over 200 kms away. Don't get me wrong, I bought a couple of motorcycles, one from Cambridge and the other from Burlington but it was my choice to search in those cities. Most of them now let you select your local area, however I wanted something dedicated to London and the local area.

Other sites didn't seem that inexpensive to advertise on, particularly for new or used car dealers, or they were only free for a limited time for owners. I also didn't like all the extra advertising in my face.

In addition to the online classified sites, I then had to search out the various dealer web sites to see if they had what I was looking for. That is why I created a separate links area here to them and other sites related to buying a used car.

Q. Can I pay to feature an ad, move it up or make it more prominent?
A. No you can't. That was one of the other reasons of why I started the site. Other sites offer those features if that is what you want or are looking for then by all means list your vehicles there as well as here. The main idea was if people know what they are looking for, year, make, model, price range etc., they can use the search function to find it.

Q. Will it always be FREE for owners / private sellers to list / post their vehicles?
A. Yes. You have my word on that. As long as London Area Used Car Connection exists there will never be a charge for a owner / private seller to list / post their vehicles.

At some point I might enable a PayPal donation button so if they wish to say thank you for providing the service they can but it would be completely and totally voluntary.

Q. Why don't you charge a fee for dealers, why is it free for dealers too?

I'm a business owner just like they are. I have kept my costs down in the set up of London Area Used Car Connection so it is my way of helping my fellow small business owner. It isn't completely free but only cost me a little money with the other websites that I run which is why I only ask for a donation if they would like to contribute towards the cost.

I have heard that other sites that are free are heavy with advertising and the dealers aren't getting the results. I also don't care for all the advertising, you won't find any advertising here.

Q. What are the details if a dealer wants to make a donation?
A. You can find the details here. After reviewing it, if you still have questions let me know.

If you have a question that you don't see answered here plese click here to submit it to me.
